How to Make Shirts With Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing is a popular method of decorating shirts. It involves the transfer of a design from one material to another by using a heat-resistant press. There are several ways to apply this method. You can use teflon paper or butcher paper as transfer paper. The next step involves placing the press over the image for about 30 seconds and then pulling the press straight up to remove the transfer sheet.

Fabrics for sublimation printing

When you print on fabric with sublimation printing, you will achieve vibrant colors and detailed designs. And unlike traditional screen printing, these designs will not fade and become unattractive over time. The printing process uses a dye that converts from a liquid to a gas and forms a smooth surface on the fabric. Furthermore, there is no layer of paint on the surface, so the fabric will not peel or wrinkle under heavy use.

Fabrics for sublimation printing are made from various materials, including polyester. The first step is to choose a good quality polyester fabric that is resistant to heat. The next step is to choose the right colour-based inks for your printing needs. Water-based inks are ideal for sublimation printing because they come in a wide range of colours.

Another important consideration when choosing a fabric for sublimation printing is its durability. Fabrics that are not machine washable or have a high moisture content may be damaged by the printing process. In addition, sublimation printing leaves a residue on some fabrics. Because the process uses high heat and pressure, it may not be suitable for delicate materials.

The best fabrics for sublimation printing are made of polyester. They should have a polyester content of at least 80%. Polyester can also be used to coat non-porous items, although the prints will not last for a long time. However, natural materials are not suitable for sublimation printing because of their high melting point. When polyester is exposed to heat, it melts and opens up pores, allowing dye gas to penetrate the fabric.

Poly-blend fabrics have certain advantages over 100% polyester. A poly-blend fabric is comfortable and can withstand washings. However, a polyester blend fabric will not hold sublimation ink as well. It may be a better option to blend poly-blend fabrics with cotton if you want comfort and quality.

Sublimation printing is best used on light-colored fabrics. Since it is essentially a dyeing process, it works best with light-colored fabrics. Darker materials are better suited for digital printing.

Transfer paper

Sublimation is a process for creating designs on garments. The process involves creating sublimation dyes on a specially-designed transfer paper and applying them to the fabric using a heat press. The heat press causes a chemical reaction that turns the dyes into gas. The gasified dye particles then penetrate the fabric fibers, creating bonds on the molecular level.

First, you need to create an artwork for your sublimation design. Firstly, you must create a design on your computer. This artwork should be printed on the white side of the transfer paper. Once you have printed it, you need to line up the image onto the fabric. Once you have completed this step, you can remove the transfer paper from the shirt.

Sublimation has several advantages. Its image won't appear as an outline when touched and the colors will be brighter than with traditional heat transfer paper. Another major advantage of using this technique is that it won't add a layer of fabric and won't alter the feel of the fabric. Moreover, sublimation is durable, so the image will last for as long as the product you print on it.

Before pressing the transfer paper, you should make sure that your t-shirt is ironed. It's also advisable to trim the paper edges so that the printing head will not catch them. Otherwise, ink will remain on the edges and transfer to the shirt. To ensure that your design is not blurred, you should also make sure the heat press you use uses the right settings.

You can download a free design or digital photo from the internet. Then, use a lint roller to remove any fuzz or lint. This helps prevent the dye from leaking through. Afterwards, you can use the EasyPress to gently press out any wrinkles in the design.

Sublimation and transfer paper have different properties. It is important to understand the differences and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Heat-resistant tape

Sublimation is an ink-transfer process. During the process, the ink turns to vapor, which can transfer to surfaces nearby. Therefore, it is important to use a heat-resistant tape to prevent the image from becoming blurry. Another thing to remember is to have good ventilation during the process. A fan will help disperse the fumes. It is also important to avoid inhaling the fumes while the sublimation is still warm.

You should use heat-resistant tape when making shirts with sublimation, as this will reduce ghosting. In addition to heat-resistant tape, you should also use a sheet of butcher paper or Teflon to protect the sublimation paper. Also, make sure to pick up the EasyPress straight up after using it to ensure that the shirt doesn't get distorted.

When using heat-resistant tape to make shirts with sublimation, it is important to keep the film in place when you close the heat press. The heat from the platen can cause the edges to curl, which makes placement difficult. Using a Teflon sheet or Transfer tape will prevent the edges from curling, making it easier to align your print.

Among the heat transfer tapes that are available for the purpose of making shirts with sublimation are HPN heat tape, Chemica ATT, and UniMask ATT. If you're going to use heat transfer tapes to make shirts with sublimation, it is better to go for high-quality tapes than cheap ones from Amazon.

Creating a solid bleached design space

The first step in sublimation printing is to create a solid bleached design space. The purpose of this step is to ensure that no bleach gets on the design will not turn out the way you want it. Using flour as an outline can be helpful. Instead of using a paintbrush to outline your design, flour will not damage the sublimation paper.

Another way to create a solid bleached design space is to make the design by using a bleach pen, stencil, or bleaching gel. To prevent bleeding of the bleach to the work surface, make sure to use a towel or plastic bag to protect your design from the bleach.

The process of bleaching t-shirts is not as difficult as you may think. The key is to have a good amount of patience, practice, and confidence in your bleaching techniques. Also, the more research you do, the more successful your final results will be.
